Very little. Auware was built to give agencies better performance insights without collecting sensitive customer data or cluttering your store with unnecessary integrations. We designed the platform around Shopify’s approved methods for tracking and attribution, which means we only access what is required to measure landing page performance and tie results back to campaigns.
Shopify does not provide direct API endpoints to capture visitor activity. To solve this, we use Shopify App Proxies, which allow apps to securely capture data from visitors as they interact with your storefront. An App Proxy is essentially a pass-through request that runs through Shopify before it reaches Auware. This setup means all visitor data is handled in line with Shopify’s security standards, and it ensures we only receive information that is explicitly tied to campaign performance. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected, and we do not store customer-level data inside Auware.
For orders, we use the Shopify Orders API. This lets us identify which purchases were made through an Auware landing page. Every order that originates from one of our pages is tagged with “Auware,” so you can easily separate those results in Shopify reporting. Beyond that, we do not pull detailed order information or customer records. The tagging system is lightweight, non-invasive, and designed to keep your Shopify data clean and consistent.
It is important to emphasize that Auware does not sync, export, or store your customers’ personal data. We do not collect names, emails, addresses, or payment details. Our system is designed around campaign attribution and performance tracking only. That means agencies can confidently use Auware knowing they are not introducing compliance risks or privacy concerns for their clients.
This minimal approach to data access also keeps the platform reliable. By limiting our integration points, there is less chance of conflicts with other Shopify apps, and less ongoing maintenance required for your store. We focus on the specific signals that matter—visitor activity tied to campaigns and tagged orders—so you can measure the impact of audience-aware landing pages without extra complexity.
In short, Auware only pulls the bare minimum: visitor interactions through Shopify App Proxies and tagged orders via the Orders API. We never touch personal customer data, and your store remains secure, stable, and compliant.
